The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on members of the National Assembly to work in collaboration with the executive arm of government for the benefit of Nigerians. The charge was given by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdulahi Adamu, during a visit by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and a delegation of senators to Adamu’s residence in Keffi, Nasarawa State, as part of Sallah homage.
Senator Adamu congratulated the President of the Senate and his deputy on their emergence in their respective positions, stating that their victory was a great relief for the party. He emphasized that the time for contests is over and now is the time for governance. Adamu stressed the importance of effective collaboration between the legislature and the executive in order to serve the overall interests of the people.
He expressed that Nigerians have high expectations and that these can only be met through a united legislature and executive working together in a bipartisan manner. Adamu acknowledged the knowledge and experience of the Senate President, stating that he has what it takes to foster harmony between the two arms of government for the peace and development of the country.
In response, Senator Akpabio expressed his happiness at the opportunity to pay homage to Senator Adamu during the festive period. He described the APC chairman as a man of integrity who played a crucial role in the zoning arrangement that led to the successful emergence of the National Assembly leadership. Akpabio assured that the 10th National Assembly will support the administration of President Bola Tinubu and work to enact laws that support the administration’s agenda for national peace, unity, and development.
The visit and exchange of pleasantries signify the commitment of the ruling party and the National Assembly to work together for the progress of the country.
