In August of 2021, Benjamin Mendy’s life began to crumble when he was detained in England on suspicion of rape and sexual assault on a victim. The allegations against him were made public.

Additionally, the former Manchester City defender, who was 28 years old at the time, was refused bail, and as a result, he was barred from playing for the club in September of that same year.

Over the course of the last two years, Mendy has been in the line of fire of the legal system, and he has been continuously put on trial in an effort to clear his good reputation.

Benjamin Mendy, a former defender for Manchester City who was accused of rape and sexual assault, was found not guilty of all allegations.

New accusations were brought against the former Monaco defender while previous ones were being dismissed one by one.

On the other hand, Benjamin Mendy found out on Friday that he had been ultimately exonerated of all allegations of rape and attempted rape. This was one of the nicest pieces of news that Benjamin Mendy had ever heard in his life.

The Chester Crown Court hearing lasted for three hours, and at the conclusion of it, Benjamin Mendy sobbed after learning that he would not be found guilty of the charges against him.

Jenny Wiltshire, Mendy’s attorney, is quoted as saying the following, as reported by the DailyMail:

“Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial, rather than on the rumor and innuendo that have followed this case from the very beginning,” “Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial,”

This article will expose the specifics of the rape case involving Benjamin Mendy, including why he was arrested and what the next step is for the football player who is no longer under contract.

In August of 2021, Benjamin Mendy was taken into custody on allegations of rape as well as sexual assault.

As was indicated before, Mendy was the subject of many interviews with law enforcement officials in August 2021 in connection to a number of complaints of rape and sexual assault.

As Mendy remained in detention, the Cheshire Constabulary reportedly filed five charges against him, including four counts of rape and one act of sexual assault.

It was claimed that the first accusations were associated with alleged offenses committed between October 2020 and August 2021 against three distinct female complainants, all of whom were above the age of 16.

During the following two years, the French defender would be subjected to a torturous ordeal in the judicial system.

He reportedly admitted to having sex with 10,000 women

A shocking story about Benjamin Mendy’s sexual life surfaced a month ago, right in the middle of the rape investigation.

Benjamin Mendy, a player for Manchester City, is accused of sexually assaulting a young lady and then assuring her it was normal since he had sex with 10,000 different women. This information comes from a jury.
Benjamin Mendy is accused of sexually assaulting a young lady, after which he reportedly told the victim that it was acceptable since he had sex with 10,000 women.

Another woman, who was 29 at the time, alleged that he had also assaulted her at his house two years earlier, and he was also accused of attempting to rape another woman.

The 28-year-old man is accused of assaulting the lady in October of 2020 at his home in Mottram St. Andrew, Cheshire, which is valued at $4 million.

The court conducted an extensive investigation into the matter after Mendy’s report revealed that he had a sexual history with 10,000 different women.

In the end, Mendy conceded to the authorities that any and all sexual contact that took place in both incidents was voluntary, but he continued to deny any wrongdoing.

Mendy was denied bail after flouting a court order

After that, the judge denied Benjamin Mendy’s request for release because he had violated one of the terms of his previous bail, which stated that he was not allowed to have any home parties.

Following a hearing that lasted approximately fifty minutes in September 2022 at Chester Crown Court, the former Manchester City defender was ordered to remain in jail.

The bail application was made at a hearing that was held in private, and Mendy was not present for it. Judge Steven Everett denied the motion and denied release.

Mendy, who was 27 years old at the time, was arrested and charged with five charges of rape and one count of sexual assault in connection with alleged assaults on three women, one of whom was under the age of 18.

The prosecution claimed that these happened at his house in Prestbury, which is located in Cheshire.

Before he was accused of sexually assaulting a lady at the beginning of January 2022, it is said that he committed four rapes, three of which took place in October 2020 and one of which took place in August 2020. The fourth alleged rape occurred in August 2020.

Manchester City suspended him following the rape charges

After being arrested in August 2021, Benjamin Mendy was kicked off the Manchester City team in September 2021 and never played for the club again.

After he was charged with rape and sexual assault, Sky Sports claimed that Manchester City suspended the left-back awaiting a trial because of the allegations against him.

The giants of the Premier League announced the following things in a statement that was issued on August 27, 2021:

“Manchester City can confirm that following his charging by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation. This was announced by the club,” said the statement. Due to the fact that this case is now being processed via the legal system, the club will have no further comment until such time as this procedure has been concluded.

Mendy made his first court appearance on September 10 of that year and was remanded into jail at that time.

He was charged with more counts of rape while in jail

During the time that Mendy was incarcerated, the French celebrity was hit with three further counts of rape.

On the other hand, he was granted bail on January 7, 2022, on the condition that he reside at his home address in Prestbury, Cheshire, that he not contact any of the complainants, and that he also relinquish his passport to remove the danger of flight. All of these conditions were placed on him.

Benjamin Mendy eventually showed up in court again on May 22 and entered a not guilty plea to eight counts, including seven of rape, one of attempted rape, and one of sexual assault, all of which related to six different victims.

After further investigation, Mendy was charged with nine charges of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one offense of sexual assault.

After further investigation, Benjamin Mendy was charged with nine charges of rape, one act of attempted rape, and one offense of sexual assault.
Benjamin Mendy was arrested and accused with nine sexual assaults, one aggravated rape, and one attempted rape.

On the other hand, the French defense attorney entered a not guilty plea to all of the allegations.

There were a total of 14 people on the jury, including two alternates. There were eight males and six women on the panel, and all of the jurors were required to attest that they did not have any kind of relationship to Manchester City, Manchester United, or the police.

Mendy’s first breakthrough in the rape case came in September 2022

Benjamin Mendy’s first break came on September 13, 2022, when he was declared not guilty of one count of rape against a 19-year-old lady. Prior to this, Benjamin Mendy had undergone a grueling 13 months.

After the prosecution chose not to seek a guilty conviction on the one count, Judge Stephen Everett instructed the jury to return a verdict of not guilty after their deliberations.

However, this was only conceivable because video evidence surfaced showing the victim having consensual intercourse with Mendy’s co-defendant, Louis Saha Matturie, on the same date that she claimed she was the victim of a rape.

Who was accused alongside Benjamin Mendy in the rape case?

The claims of rape made against Benjamin Mendy also include a guy named Louis Saha Matturie, who is 41 years old and is from the nation of Sierra Leone. Louis Saha Matturie now resides in Edwin Road, Eccles, England, however he was born in the country of Sierra Leone.

In court, Matturie was referred to as Mendy’s “runner,” and the first time he was taken into custody was in August 2021, at the same time as the player.

A spokeswoman for the Cheshire Police Department issued the following statement to the media in response to the arrest of Matturie:

“The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has given the Cheshire Constabulary the green light to prosecute a second man in connection with claims of sexual assault. The 40-year-old suspect, Louis Saha Matturie, has been accused with four separate charges of rape. The alleged incidents in question include three individuals who are above the age of 16 and took place between April 2021 and August 2021, according to the allegations. Matturie, who is from Eccles, has been taken into jail as a result of this.

In the case of Matturie, the prosecutors claimed that there were three alleged rape victims, ladies who were 24, 19, and 17 years old respectively.

On August 23, 2021, there were supposedly three incidents, whereas on April 8, 2021, there was apparently one.

According to France 24, the jury in Matturie’s prior trial found him not guilty on all three charges of rape involving the two teens. The verdict was published by France 24.

In addition, the jury was unable to make a decision on the three allegations of rape and the three counts of sexual assault against Matturie that were brought against five additional women.

In the latter part of this year, Mattourie is scheduled to participate in a separate retrial.

During the time that the trial was taking place, Matturie was seen present in the Chester Crown Court on many occasions, sometimes in the company of Mendy.

Benjamin Mendy’s second breakthrough in the rape case came in January 2023

On Friday, January 13, 2023, the jury at Chester Crown Court was unable to reach verdicts on two of the nine counts that had been brought against Mendy. As a result, It was announced that Mendy had been exonerated of seven of the nine allegations that had been brought against him.

Reportedly, Mendy covered his face with both hands as he sat in a quiet courtroom, softly rocking back and forth, while the jury foreman repeatedly said “not guilty” to the six charges linked to four young ladies or teens. This occurred when the courtroom was in a state of silence.

After more than 60 hours of discussion spread out over the course of 14 days, the jury was alleged to have been dismissed by Judge Everett on the day of the trial itself.

However, Mendy was also expected to face a second trial on June 26, after consultations with legal counsel, and the trial was set to take place.

Manchester City took no further action against Mendy following the jury’s verdict in January 2023

Officially, Benjamin Mendy’s time under contract with Manchester City has come to an end.
After the judgement was handed down in January, a statement from Manchester City went as follows:

Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty of all seven crimes he was originally accused of by a jury at Chester Crown Court today, as reported by Manchester City FC. The trial is now concluded since the jury could not reach a verdict on any of the allegations. Due to the fact that there are still unresolved issues connected to this case, the club will refrain from making any more comments at this time.

Mendy’s contract with Manchester City was set to expire on June 1, 2023, but the case against him for rape was drawing to a conclusion while he was still in court.

Benjamin Mendy has consistent success while playing for Manchester City.
The French left defender, who is now 28 years old and was bought by the Premier League club from AS Monaco in 2017 for a reported fee of £52 million. Since joining the club, he has won three Premier League championships and two EFL Cups.

In addition to that, he was awarded a medal for coming in second place after City was defeated by Chelsea in the final of the Champions League in 2020–2021.

Benjamin Mendy Rape Case final trial began in June 2023

On June 26, 2023, in the Chester Crown Court, Benjamin Mendy’s retrial for his outstanding charges got underway. This time, he faced a whole new jury.

Although he was prosecuted separately for his pending offenses, his suspected accomplice Matturie faced a separate trial.

After a period of more than two weeks, on July 14, 2023, the French player was found not guilty of any of the charges of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault. He was also released from the case.

The attorneys for Mendy have said that their client want to “rebuild his life” moving forward.

The athlete himself did not want to remark, but he did provide the words “Alhamdulillah,” which is an Arabic word that translates to “Praise be to God.”
