The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as the governor following the death of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure, administered by Chief Judge Justice Olusegun Odusola.
Aiyedatiwa’s path to governorship included surviving an impeachment plot and opposition.
Akeredolu’s prolonged health challenges led to his death on December 27, 2023, in Germany.
Before his demise, Akeredolu transmitted power to Aiyedatiwa on December 13, 2023, during his medical trip overseas.
