The Candidate of the Labour Party in the Nov. 11 Imo governorship election, Sen. Athan Achonu has urged renewed trust in a greater Imo as Nigerians celebrated Christmas.
This is contained in a statement signed by Achonu’s Media Director, Chibuike Diala, and made available to newsmen in Owerri, on Monday.
Achonu urged Imo people to reflect on the love shown by Jesus Christ and the reformation, restoration and salvation of humanity brought about by his birth.
He called for increased love, faith in a greater Imo and Nigeria, adding that Christ’s boundless, eternal love remained worthy of emulation.
“ As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, may this season of Christmas bring to you and your loved ones, incredible acts of love, kindness, and amazing blessings.
“ The birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was for the reformation, restoration, and salvation of mankind, reminding us of the need to love, be loved, and lead with peace at all times.
“ His love is boundless and eternal, and his life reflects extraordinary leadership principles worth emulating, hence this Christmas is an opportunity to do all that is possible to keep our families united in love; reform society, and salvage humanity for the greater good of our dear nation.
“ As we celebrate together, I urge Ndi Imo (Imo people) and indeed all Nigerians to look to the future with great faith and trust in the significant message of the birth of Jesus Christ,” he said.
He expressed optimism that Imo people and all Nigerians “ shall conquer the plethora of challenges that confront us with the unbreakable zeal of the Lord “.
“ I wish you a very joyful Yuletide and a new year that brings the greatest happiness of all time,” he said.
