Coalition of Ex-Agitators of Niger Delta (CEND) has decided to withdraw the 5-day ultimatum previously given to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, demanding his resignation from office. In a statement jointly signed by Chief Gershom M Gbobo, the national coordinator, and Mr. Ellington Bakumor, the spokesman, the group apologized to Ogbuku and urged him to continue his commendable work at the commission.
The coalition stated that their earlier statement was hasty and not intended to tarnish Dr. Ogbuku’s hard-earned reputation. They acknowledged the sacrifices he has made for the region throughout his career.
According to the statement, the NDDC boss, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, responded graciously to their concerns and listened to their grievances like a true leader and father figure. He holds Niger Delta youths in high regard and has pledged to sponsor their training and rolled out various empowerment programs for the region. He also promised to collaborate with the Amnesty office to ensure proper reintegration of ex-agitators into society through entrepreneurship empowerment and other initiatives.
In light of these developments, the coalition appealed to the youths of the Niger Delta region to support and assist the administration of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku at NDDC to achieve its goals for the area’s development and human capacity building. They emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration to uplift their region, urging fellow ex-agitators to offer their support to Ogbuku’s administration.
The coalition pledged to stand behind and provide necessary assistance to Dr. Ogbuku’s administration moving forward, emphasizing that it is time to unite and work together for the progress and upliftment of their region.
