Dr. Maryam Shetty, a nominee for a ministerial position, has expressed her faith as a devout Muslim in understanding the withdrawal of her name from the list of ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu. In a statement, she attributed the setback to life’s unpredictable nature and stated that it was the will of Almighty Allah.
Despite the unexpected development, Shetty acknowledged the immense honor her nomination brought her, recognizing it as a significant stride towards more inclusive national representation. As someone from the traditional and conservative regions of northern Nigeria, she saw her nomination as a sign that Nigeria was ready to embrace a future where young women from all parts of the country could hold positions of influence and power.
Although her nomination was reversed, Shetty sees it as part of Allah’s divine plan, emphasizing her belief that His plans are always superior to human aspirations. Despite the setback, she remains steadfast in her faith and gratitude for the opportunity she was given.
