Meta, the parent company of Facebook, announced the introduction of two new monetisation features for content creators in Nigeria and Ghana. These features, Facebook in-stream ads and Facebook ads on reels, will enable creators to earn money by producing original videos and building online communities.
Starting June 1, eligible creators can monetise their video and reel content, with support available in over 30 languages worldwide. Moon Baz, Meta’s global partnerships lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, said the company is inspired by African creators who use Facebook to share their stories, connect with others, and unite people.
“This expansion will empower eligible creators in Nigeria and Ghana to earn money while raising the bar for creativity globally, making Meta’s family of apps a one-stop-shop for creators,” Baz stated.
To use these monetisation features, creators must adhere to Facebook’s partner monetisation policies and content monetisation policies and be at least 18 years old. For in-stream ads, creators must also meet specific eligibility criteria, such as having at least 5,000 followers.
Meta explained that in-stream ads can appear before, during, or after on-demand videos, whether pre-recorded or published as recordings of previous live streams. Types of in-stream ads include pre-roll ads, mid-roll ads, image ads, and post-roll ads.
Additionally, ads on Facebook reels will seamlessly integrate into original reels, allowing creators to earn money based on the performance of their reels while entertaining their audience.
