In a harrowing incident at the Army estate in Kurudu, the wife and two in-laws of Barrister Cyril Adikwu were abducted, and a ransom of N30 million has been requested for their release. The kidnappers struck on Thursday night at around 10 pm, invading the estate and taking the family members.
Adikwu, who managed to escape the abduction attempt at his residence, revealed that he is in communication with the kidnappers, who have set a deadline for the payment of the ransom. Speaking on the incident, Adikwu recounted the terrifying ordeal, explaining, “There were about 8 of them, and they walked through the bush path over the hill to the other side. I was called to provide a ransom, and I don’t want to mention the amount because false information is already circulating in the media, but I can assure you it’s more than 30 million.”
The estate management, in collaboration with security agencies, is actively engaged in efforts to secure the release of the kidnapped victims. An estate management official, who preferred not to be named, stated, “The incident that happened on Thursday night in the estate was really unfortunate. We assure you that we are working with security agencies to see that they are rescued unhurt.”
The military, police, and other security operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend the kidnappers in and around the nation’s capital. The situation remains tense as authorities strive to ensure the safe return of the abducted family members. Meanwhile, the police have taken custody of Chinaza Phillip, a suspected kidnapper believed to be linked to high-profile abduction cases in the Federal Capital Territory.
