The Ex-Agitators Forum, representing former Niger Delta agitators, has denounced certain individuals it deems impostors, who are making threats to disrupt the activities of the Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The group, which considers itself the genuine leaders of all ex-agitators, views these threats as mischievous attempts to cause disaffection among the people of the Niger Delta region.
In a joint statement signed by HRH Henry Binidodogha (President First Phase), Olotu Wanemi (National Chairman Second Phase), and Tonye Bobo (National Chairman Third Phase), the ex-agitators expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Dr. Samuel Ogbuku-led management of the NDDC. They, therefore, dissociated themselves from any individual or group calling for the removal of the present Management Committee.
The Ex-Agitators Forum called on Niger Delta stakeholders to disregard these disruptive elements, asserting that their intentions are driven by personal interests and are contrary to the mandate of the NDDC. The group suspects that some powerful individuals, who previously benefited from corruption, are behind these threats.
Reminding Niger Deltans that the era of shutting down the NDDC’s operations is no longer acceptable, the group emphasized that they have embraced peaceful engagement under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku. They commended Ogbuku and his team for laying the foundation for rapid economic development in the region and for instituting a sustainable governance structure for the Commission.
The Ex-Agitators Forum highlighted that Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, as a former youth leader, is well-prepared for his current leadership position and is beloved by his people. They urged Niger Delta stakeholders to support the ongoing development efforts and refrain from destabilizing the Commission’s operations.
In conclusion, the group appreciated President Bola Tinubu’s retention of Dr. Ogbuku as the head of the NDDC’s management team until a new board is constituted. The Ex-Agitators Forum expressed confidence in the positive impact of the NDDC’s current leadership on the welfare and development of the Niger Delta region.
