In a solemn gesture of respect and solidarity, the newly sworn-in Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, visited the family of his late predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Thursday evening in Ibadan, Oyo State. Aiyedatiwa, accompanied by members of the State Executive Council and lawmakers, expressed his condolences and assured the grieving family of his commitment to sustaining Akeredolu’s legacies.
The visit took place at the residence located in the Jericho area of Ibadan, where Aiyedatiwa and his entourage were warmly received by members of the family, led by Akeredolu’s younger brother, Kola. The dignitaries paid their respects by signing the condolence register, sharing moments of reflection on the life and leadership of the late governor.
During the visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa affirmed his dedication to upholding the principles and values instilled by Akeredolu during his tenure. “We are here as a government under my leadership as the governor of Ondo state on behalf of the people of Ondo State to pay a condolence visit to the immediate and extended family of our former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, who passed on yesterday. We are here in his private home here in Ibadan,” stated Aiyedatiwa.
Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged Akeredolu’s exemplary leadership, courage, and commitment to fairness, equity, and justice. He emphasized the importance of emulating the values and qualities demonstrated by the late governor to preserve the legacies he left behind.
