The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting thunderstorms and rains across various regions of the country from Monday to Wednesday. The forecast, released on Sunday in Abuja, indicates significant weather activity over the next three days.
Monday Forecast:
In the morning, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Taraba, and Kaduna states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, and Jigawa states.
In the North Central region, rains are expected in the morning over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kwara, and Niger states. Later in the day, thunderstorms and rains are anticipated over the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, and Benue states. Morning rains are also expected over parts of Lagos, Ondo, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. The entire southern region will experience thunderstorms and intermittent rains later in the day.
Tuesday Forecast:
In the morning, partly cloudy conditions are predicted for the northern region. In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna.
Cloudy conditions are anticipated over the North Central region in the morning, with prospects of afternoon and evening thunderstorms over parts of the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Niger, and Benue states. Morning rains are forecasted for Enugu, Abia, Imo, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. The entire southern region is expected to see thunderstorms and intermittent rains in the afternoon and evening.
Wednesday Forecast:
In the morning, thunderstorms are predicted over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, and Zamfara. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Jigawa, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, and Borno.
A partly cloudy atmosphere is forecasted for the North Central region in the morning, with thunderstorms anticipated later in the day over parts of the FCT, Plateau, and Nasarawa states. The southern region will have a cloudy morning, with thunderstorms and intermittent rains expected throughout the afternoon and evening.
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions as strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely. Airline operators are also urged to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
