The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted rumors of a planned suspension of former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party. In a communique issued after the SWC meeting in Ilorin, the state capital, the party urged its members and supporters to remain calm and disregard the rumors.
The communique, signed by the state party Chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, and the state Secretary, Abdulrazaq Lawal, stated that the rumors were aimed at causing disharmony within the party. It clarified that the enlarged meeting held on June 1, 2023, which reviewed the outcome of the 2023 general elections, had been misconstrued or misrepresented by certain disgruntled elements.
The Kwara PDP emphasized the need for unity and solidarity among its members and supporters, highlighting the pivotal role played by Senator Bukola Saraki, a two-term governor of the state and former Senate President, in the party. The party called on everyone to disregard the rumors and focus on working together for the progress and success of the PDP in Kwara State.
The dismissal of the suspension rumors aims to dispel any confusion or division within the party and reaffirm the leadership and contribution of Senator Bukola Saraki to the PDP in Kwara State.
