The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has arrested a 43-year-old pastor, Adebolu Olulusi, on charges of fraud. The arrest came after allegations were made that the pastor defrauded a woman named Taiwo Opesanmi of N1.2 million.
According to reports, between 2019 and 2020, the pastor collected various sums of money from Opesanmi, promising to assist her in securing a job at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). However, after receiving the funds, he allegedly cut off all communication with the victim and could not be found at his residence in Akure, the state capital.
Daniel Aidamenbor, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Command, stated that Opesanmi met the pastor at a prayer mountain in Ijoka, Akure. The Counter Terrorism Unit of the NSCDC, in collaboration with a commercial bank, was able to track down and apprehend the suspect with the help of a court order.
During the investigation, another victim came forward and accused the pastor of selling her land using a fake deed of gift for N800,000. As a result, she had to pay an additional N1 million to the rightful owner of the land since she had already constructed a building on it.
The NSCDC is continuing its investigation into the case, and the pastor will face legal consequences for his alleged fraudulent activities.
