Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has announced that Aminat Yusuf, who graduated as the best law student from Lagos State University (LASU) with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0, will receive various benefits from the Edo State Government. The governor stated that Aminat will be placed on salary, and her Law School program will be fully sponsored.
Speaking through the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, the governor stated that in addition to automatic employment, the government has approved other benefits for Aminat in recognition of her outstanding academic performance. The governor has directed that she will receive a scholarship to cover her one-year program at the Nigerian Law School, with the government taking responsibility for all her needs during this period.
Furthermore, for each month that Aminat spends in law school, she will receive an upkeep allowance equivalent to the salary of a State Counsel, which amounts to nearly N200,000. This is a testament to the governor’s recognition of her remarkable achievement at LASU.
The governor expressed pride in Aminat’s academic accomplishments and expressed hope that she would join the Edo State Government after completing her law school program. The government will write to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ensure that she carries out her one-year compulsory youth service in the state.
