President Bola Tinubu has called for another meeting with key figures in Ondo State, including Deputy Governor Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Princess Oladunni Odu, and the state chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin. The meeting, scheduled to take place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, is believed to be related to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The invitation comes amid the continued absence of the governor, who has been on a medical vacation abroad. The previous meeting held in November included resolutions that the status quo should be maintained.
In response to the political situation, pro-democracy activist Omoyele Sowore has announced plans for an ‘Occupy Ondo State’ protest at the Akure Town Hall. The protest aims to address concerns related to Governor Akeredolu’s governance. However, the state Police Commissioner, Asabi Abiodun, has issued a warning against activities that may disrupt peace in the state, emphasizing the need to respect the rights of others while maintaining law and order.
