In the November 2023 diet of the Professional Qualifying Examination for teachers organized by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), a total of 3,963 teachers across the country failed. The examination, conducted by TRCN, is designed to test the professional knowledge of individuals in the teaching profession.
Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of TRCN, provided a breakdown during an interactive session with journalists, stating that out of the 15,753 candidates who sat for the examination in 38 centers nationwide, 10,636 (about 72.9%) passed, while 3,963 failed. Some candidates were also reported as absent, and the results of others were canceled due to examination malpractices.
The TRCN continues to work towards enhancing the teaching profession in Nigeria, ensuring that teachers meet the necessary professional standards. The November 2023 diet of the Professional Qualifying Examination took place from November 23 to November 25, 2023.
