Tantita Security Services Nigeria (TTS) Limited has vehemently denied allegations of involvement in oil theft in the Awoye riverine area, as accused by the Nigerian Navy. In a statement signed by Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, the Executive Director of Operations and Technical at TTS, the company refuted the claims made by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan.
The Nigerian Navy had issued a statement on December 7, 2023, announcing the detection and arrest of a 77-meter-long motor tanker for crude oil theft along with its 17 crew members. Commodore Ayo-Vaughan suggested a belief that Tantita Security Services might be involved in the alleged illegalities due to the proximity of the Awoye riverine area to the place of arrest, which is covered by TSS.
In response, TTS labeled the statement as “defamatory and libelous” and expressed disappointment that the Nigerian Navy would make such accusations against the organization. The statement highlighted that video evidence of the incident exists and has been transmitted to the highest authorities.
“Our attention has been drawn to a defamatory and libellous statement made by the Nigerian Navy against our organization, Tantita Security Services Limited.
“In the statement issued on Thursday, the 7th of December, 2023, by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, he informed the general public that the Nigerian Navy had detected and arrested a 77-meter-long motor tanker for crude oil theft with her 17 crew members.”
“We are indeed saddened and disappointed that the Nigerian Navy could descend so low as to make such bizarre accusations against our organisation, knowing the same to be false.”
“Perhaps they are unaware that video evidence of what transpired between the Tantita operatives and the Nigerian Navy at the scene exists and has been transmitted to the highest authorities.”
“We will, therefore, not join issues with the Nigerian Navy as we know that Nigerians know who is who.” the statement concluded.
