Three suspects, Buhari Ibrahim (18), Muniru Yahaya (20), and Rufai Isiaka (20), were presented before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court by the Ekiti State Police Command on Monday. They were charged with stealing a pumping machine on July 18 at Tinuola Area in Ado-Ekiti.
According to the police prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, the accused allegedly stole the pumping machine valued at N40,000, which belonged to Oso Modupe. The offence is in violation of Section 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge, and their counsel, Mr Sunday Balogun, requested bail for them, assuring the court that they would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Mr Saka Afunso granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N20,000 each, with one surety each providing the same amount. The case was adjourned until August 28 for further hearing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N20,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till August 28 for hearing.
