President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The announcement was made through a State House press release on Friday, which also revealed the appointment of Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the NPA Board.
Dr. Dantsoho, who brings over 25 years of maritime experience to his new role, holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, both in the United Kingdom. His extensive background in the maritime industry includes serving as Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager of Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff and Billing within the NPA.
In 2022, Dr. Dantsoho was appointed Chief of Staff to the former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo. He now succeeds Mohammed Bello-Koko, who has led the NPA since February 22, 2022.
Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, the new NPA board chairman, is a lawyer, journalist, and politician. He previously served as Minister of State for Works and as a Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, who announced the appointments, stated that President Tinubu expects the new leadership to perform their duties with excellence, aiming for efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.
