On Monday in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu decorated the newly-appointed service chiefs with their new ranks at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa. The newly-inaugurated service chiefs are Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of teamwork in maintaining peace and stability in the country’s security sector. He commended the dedication and commitment displayed by the armed forces in contributing to the nation’s security and peace. President Tinubu assured the new service chiefs of the government’s commitment to supporting them in their responsibilities.
In response, Gen. Christopher Musa, speaking on behalf of the service chiefs, expressed their unalloyed commitment to ensuring the security and defense of the nation in their respective positions. He assured the president of the armed forces’ loyalty to the government and their readiness to carry out orders for the country’s defense.
The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribabu, and other senior government officials, as well as members of the immediate families of the service chiefs and heads of security and intelligence agencies in the country.
