Frank Nweke Jr., the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Enugu State governorship election held on March 18, has decided to withdraw his petition against Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nweke, who secured the third position in the election with 17,983 votes compared to Mbah’s 160,895 votes, made the announcement of withdrawal at the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Sunday. His counsel, R.A.C.E Achara, presented an oral application for the withdrawal of the petition, stating that it was necessary to reduce the workload of the tribunal.
The tribunal granted the request and subsequently dismissed the petition.
Confirming the withdrawal, Frank Nweke Jr., who had previously served as a minister during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, cited personal reasons for his decision to withdraw the petition against Governor Peter Mbah.
