Victory Gbaraka, a lawyer and gospel singer, has emerged as the winner of the 8th edition of the popular reality TV singing show, Nigerian Idol.
Victory surpassed Precious Mac to claim the coveted grand prize of 100 million naira that was awarded to the winner of the musical competition.
During the finale, Victory delivered a captivating rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” and later teamed up with Precious Mac, the first runner-up, to perform Rihanna’s “Stay.”
The host of the show, IK Osakioduwa, had a conversation with Victory’s parents, who expressed their pride in their son’s accomplishments.
Victory shared that his personal drive and the influence of those around him inspired him to participate in Nigerian Idol. He believes that a great artist is defined by their talent, confidence in their abilities, and their capacity to showcase their skills.
As the show follows a “winner takes all” model, Precious Mac, who secured the first runner-up position, did not receive any prize. It is noteworthy that her siblings, Faith and Naomi, also participated in previous editions of the show but did not emerge as winners.
