The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that the report of the probe panel set up by the Anambra State Government has vindicated its position that Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme forged her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result. The candidate had claimed to score 360, contrary to her original score of 249, which prompted JAMB to disclaim the result.
During the panel’s investigation, Ejikeme reportedly admitted to falsifying the result without the knowledge or assistance of anyone. In response, JAMB asserted that the outcome of the investigation validates its stance that the candidate forged the UTME result. The board reiterated its commitment to sanitizing the public examination sector and vowed to continue its efforts in that regard.
JAMB emphasized its reputation for conducting credible examinations and expressed determination not to fail the nation. The board condemned attempts to cast doubt on its integrity and stated that it will remain resolute in its commitment to providing credible and fair assessments. JAMB called on Nigerians to appreciate the genuine efforts of national institutions and cautioned against attacking everything that makes the nation proud.
The board also warned candidates to avoid fraudulent apps that promise to enhance their scores, as the result will only bring anguish and misery. JAMB urged well-meaning Nigerians to verify any claims put forward by candidates and commended those who stood on the side of truth. The board expressed gratitude to the Anambra State Government for its unbiased approach throughout the investigation.
In conclusion, JAMB called for collective support to build a greater Nigeria and congratulated Miss Kamyosikwu Chinyere Uche as the best scorer in the 2023 UTME exercise.
