The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) held a significant meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday evening.
Following an open and productive discussion with President Tinubu, the Labour Leaders expressed confidence in his ability to address the issues raised by the Labour Movement. As a result, they have decided to suspend further protests.
During the meeting, the Labour Leaders opted for continued constructive engagement with the government to resolve all outstanding issues that impact the welfare of working people and Nigerians in general.
President Tinubu made a commitment to the Labour leaders that the Port Harcourt refineries will resume production by December 2023 upon the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation contract between NNPCL and the Italian firm, Maire Tecnimont SpA.
In addition, President Tinubu assured the Labour leaders of his dedication to working in the best interest of Nigeria and appealed to them to collaborate with him in building a better and economically prosperous nation.
