According to police authorities, the suspect identified as Dare Shogaolu, aged 30, popularly known as “Super M,” was arrested during a stop-and-search operation carried out by the Anti-Crime Patrol Team of the Mushin Police Division.

The arrest occurred on March 5, 2026, around 10:00 p.m. along the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Road axis, where officers noticed the suspect behaving suspiciously while carrying a polythene bag.

A search of the bag allegedly led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, prompting officers to immediately detain the suspect for further questioning.

Nevertheless, the seizure of the pistol remains the most critical aspect of the arrest.

Lagos police reiterate commitment to security

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, used the incident to reaffirm the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.

The police chief said the command would continue to strengthen proactive policing strategies, including patrols, intelligence gathering and stop-and-search operations.

He also urged residents to support law-enforcement efforts by providing credible and timely information that could help authorities prevent crime.

Stop-and-search operations and crime prevention
