    • Final checklist for police constable screening March 9

As police constable screening March 9 begins across Nigeria, the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have issued clear guidelines on what shortlisted applicants must present at the screening centres.

The screening exercise is scheduled to run from March 9 to April 18, 2026, across designated venues in all states and the Federal Capital Territory, according to the PSC.

For applicants, this is the stage where many people lose their chance, not because they failed the recruitment test, but because they showed up late, arrived at the wrong centre, or came without complete documentation. If you are shortlisted, this guide breaks down, in plain language, what you must bring and how to arrange it to avoid being turned back.

Confirm your status and print your forms first

Before anything else, shortlisted candidates are expected to log in to the official recruitment portal to confirm their status and print required documents ahead of their screening date and venue. The PSC states that the screening date and venue are shown on the invitation slip.

This step matters because police constable screening March 9 is not a “walk-in” exercise. Your invitation slip effectively ties you to a venue and schedule.

The compulsory printed documents you must bring

According to the PSC, applicants must present these printed documents at the screening venue:

  • Guarantors Form
  • Application Submission Slip
  • Invitation Slip
  • Credential Screening Form
  • Physical Screening Form

If you’re preparing for police constable screening March 9, do not assume one slip can replace another. Print all of them and keep them neat.

Identity and key credentials to bring

Beyond the portal printouts, the PSC also listed additional requirements applicants must present. These include:

  • Original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or NIMC-issued card
  • O’ Level (GCE/SSCE) certificate
  • Birth certificate or declaration of age
  • Local Government/State of Origin certificate

For candidates applying as specialists, relevant trade test certificates are also required.

This is where many candidates stumble: they come with an O’Level statement of result but no other supporting documents, or they forget the NIN slip/card. If you’re serious about police constable screening March 9, treat the list as non-negotiable.

How to package your documents: two white flat files

The PSC’s guidance is specific: applicants are to package original and duplicate copies of their credentials in two separate white flat files, with recent passport photographs attached.

A Lagos Police Command advisory echoed the same approach, listing the invitation slip, forms, NIN proof, certificates, guarantors form, and stressing that originals and duplicates should be neatly arranged in two white flat files, with recent passport photos.

So, for police constable screening March 9, think like this:

  • File 1: Originals arranged in order
  • File 2: Photocopies arranged in the same order
  • Passport photographs attached as directed

Dress code: wear the required white kit

The PSC says candidates must appear dressed in: white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts and white stockings.

Some state-level notices also emphasize clean white T-shirt and white shorts.

If you ignore the dress code on police constable screening March 9, you risk being delayed at the gate or denied entry, especially where screening officials are strict.

Time matters: come early and follow your schedule

In Lagos, the command stated that screening will hold daily from 7:00am at the Police College, Ikeja.

Other centres are expected to follow similar early-morning routines. Your safest move for police constable screening March 9 is to arrive very early, because once the process starts, officials may not pause to accommodate latecomers.

The exercise is free, PSC warns against scammers

This is one of the most important points the PSC has repeated: the recruitment and screening process is free and applicants should beware of fraudsters. The PSC chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd.), also stressed that the exercise carries no financial obligation and warned that scammers will be identified and prosecuted.

Lagos Police Command similarly warned the public to report anyone demanding money in connection with police constable screening March 9.

If anyone tells you “your name needs confirmation” or “you must pay to be screened,” treat it as a red flag.

Final checklist for police constable screening March 9

If you remember nothing else, remember this: police constable screening March 9 is paperwork-heavy. Go with:

  • All portal printouts (invitation slip, application slip, credential/physical screening forms, guarantors form)
  • NIN proof (printout or NIMC card)
  • O’Level certificate, birth certificate/declaration of age, certificate of origin
  • Originals + photocopies arranged in two white flat files with passport photos
  • White kit (white canvas, white T-shirt, white shorts, white stockings)

Done properly, you won’t be the person begging outside the gate because you forgot one slip.
