The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has rejected allegations linking its members to the recent killings in Benue State, insisting that the association has no connection with the attacks and calling for a comprehensive, independent investigation to uncover those responsible.

The association said it was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and condemned the violence, urging security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial probe capable of identifying the perpetrators and ensuring they are brought to justice.

The latest statement comes amid renewed security concerns in Benue State, where recurring attacks have continued to claim lives, displace residents and heighten tensions among farming and pastoral communities.

Association Rejects Allegations

In its reaction, MACBAN described reports linking its members to the attacks as false and unsubstantiated.

The association maintained that criminal activities should not be attributed to an entire organisation or ethnic group without credible evidence established through proper investigation.

Officials argued that individuals responsible for violent crimes should be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law rather than allowing collective blame to fuel further divisions.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe statement stressed the importance of allowing security agencies to determine responsibility through professional investigation.

Call for Independent Investigation

MACBAN urged the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to establish an independent investigation into the attacks.

According to the association, an impartial inquiry would help establish the true circumstances surrounding the killings while preventing misinformation and speculation.

The group also expressed confidence that a transparent investigation would strengthen public confidence in the justice system.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe appeal reflects growing calls from stakeholders for credible investigations into violent attacks affecting communities across Benue State.

Benue Continues to Face Security Challenges

Benue State has experienced repeated violent attacks over the years arising from a combination of criminality, communal disputes and farmer-herder conflicts.

Successive governments have introduced various security measures aimed at reducing violence, including community engagement, law enforcement operations and peacebuilding initiatives.

Despite these efforts, insecurity remains a significant challenge for many rural communities.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe development comes against the backdrop of continuing efforts by authorities to restore peace and improve security across the state.

Stakeholders Urge Calm

Community leaders and peace advocates have appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions.

Security analysts warn that assigning responsibility before investigations are completed could undermine efforts to achieve justice and reconciliation.

They emphasise that accountability must be based on credible evidence rather than assumptions or generalisations.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe statement therefore highlights the importance of responsible public communication during periods of heightened insecurity.

Need for Justice and Accountability

Legal and security experts argue that effective investigations remain essential to preventing future attacks.

They note that identifying those responsible not only ensures justice for victims but also strengthens deterrence against future criminal activities.

Experts further recommend improved intelligence gathering, community policing and closer cooperation between security agencies and local communities.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe position reinforces broader national calls for accountability and effective law enforcement.

Government Faces Pressure to Improve Security

The latest violence has renewed calls for stronger security measures across Benue State and other affected parts of Nigeria.

Residents, civil society organisations and community leaders continue to urge authorities to improve intelligence, strengthen rural security and ensure timely responses to threats.

Observers believe lasting peace will require sustained dialogue alongside effective law enforcement and economic interventions addressing the root causes of conflict.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe development underscores the urgent need for comprehensive solutions capable of preventing recurring violence.

Looking Ahead

As investigations continue, attention remains focused on identifying those responsible for the attacks and ensuring justice for victims and affected communities.

Stakeholders agree that transparent investigations, fair prosecution and sustained peacebuilding initiatives remain essential to restoring confidence in the affected areas.

Until official investigations are concluded, responsibility for the attacks remains a matter for competent authorities and the courts where necessary.

The MACBAN denies involvement in Benue killings, demands probe statement serves as a reminder that resolving complex security challenges requires evidence-based investigations, accountability and continued efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
