ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the tragic deaths of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Ogun State under disturbing circumstances.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the media community, residents of Abeokuta, and former colleagues of the veteran broadcaster, many of whom described her as a dedicated professional who spent decades serving the public through broadcasting.

The police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster began after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village reportedly alerted authorities to suspicious activities around the deceased’s residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene following the report.

Preliminary findings reportedly revealed signs of forced entry into the property, raising concerns that the victims may have been attacked by unknown assailants. During a search of the premises, officers discovered the body of the security guard inside the security post, while the body of Mrs. Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. Investigators also observed that her vehicle was missing from the compound.

The police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster has since become one of the most talked-about crime investigations in Ogun State, with residents demanding swift action to bring those responsible to justice.

Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in an official statement and disclosed that Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

According to the command, surveillance and intelligence-led operations have been expanded across relevant locations as investigators work to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind the killings.

The police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster comes amid growing concerns over attacks on residents in semi-urban communities around Ogun State. Although investigators have yet to establish a motive, the disappearance of the deceased broadcaster’s vehicle has become a major focus of the investigation.

Mrs. Oyesiku, aged 67, was a respected media personality who served for many years with Ogun State Television before retiring from active service. Widely known as “Aunty Kitan,” she earned the admiration of colleagues and viewers through her professionalism, dedication and contribution to broadcasting in Ogun State.

News of her death spread rapidly across the state on Sunday, triggering an outpouring of grief from journalists, broadcasters and public relations practitioners.

The Ogun State chapter of media stakeholders expressed shock over the development, describing the incident as a devastating loss to the journalism profession.

For many who worked with her, the police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster is not merely a criminal investigation but a quest for justice for a woman who dedicated a substantial part of her life to public communication and community development.

Community sources told local media that concern was raised after friends and associates reportedly became unable to reach the retired broadcaster. Some reports indicated that church members became worried after she failed to appear for scheduled activities, leading to inquiries that eventually resulted in the discovery of the tragedy.

Investigators are expected to examine all available evidence, including forensic materials recovered from the scene, intelligence reports and possible leads connected to the missing vehicle.

The police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster has also renewed discussions about residential security and the vulnerability of elderly citizens living alone or with minimal protection.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any information that may assist ongoing efforts.

The command assured residents that every available resource would be deployed to ensure that those responsible are identified and prosecuted.

As the investigation continues, many questions remain unanswered. Who were the attackers? What was their motive? Was the incident primarily a robbery operation, or was there another reason behind the killings?

For now, investigators are working to unravel the mystery.

What is certain, however, is that the police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster has become one of the most significant criminal investigations currently unfolding in Ogun State.

The deaths of Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard have left a painful void among family members, colleagues and admirers. As police intensify efforts to uncover the truth, residents and members of the media community alike await answers and justice for the victims.

The police probe killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster remains ongoing, with authorities expressing confidence that those responsible will eventually be brought before the law.
