Residents of Awka were thrown into shock on Sunday after gunmen killed popular comedian, master of ceremonies and media personality Isaac Nwosu, widely known as Aiza Nwosu, and another man in separate attacks in the Anambra State capital.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the Aiza Nwosu killing, saying preliminary information indicated that three unidentified gunmen travelling in a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla attacked the victims at separate locations in the city on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Nwosu, a familiar entertainment figure in Awka, was found at S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, while the other victim was recovered around Capital City Road, Amaenyi.
Both men were taken to a hospital where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
The police have now launched an investigation into the Aiza Nwosu killing, while security patrols, surveillance and intelligence gathering have been intensified across Awka and surrounding areas.
