The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released the names of 36 state-owned tertiary institutions whose students can now apply for student loans. This announcement comes after a previous postponement of the application process due to what the agency described as ‘limited data submission’ from the institutions.

NELFUND noted that several state-owned institutions had failed to upload the required student data and fee information to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS). Initially, only 34 out of 151 expected institutions had submitted their students’ data. However, the recent update reveals that 36 institutions have now been cleared to participate in the loan scheme.

In a post on its X (formerly Twitter) page, NELFUND stated that the application process would commence on Sunday, July 7, 2024. The agency confirmed that the management of the cleared institutions had successfully submitted their student data to the SVS.

NELFUND also urged all other state-owned tertiary institutions to submit their complete student data to the SVS in a timely manner to enable their students to benefit from the scheme.

The cleared institutions include:

  • Universities and Polytechnics:
  • Adamawa State University, Mubi
  • Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri
  • Borno State University
  • Mohammet Lawan College of Agriculture, Borno State
