The Ogun CityBoy Movement has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its commitment to delivering more than two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ogun State while also throwing its weight behind the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The fresh declaration underlines the growing intensity of political mobilisation in Ogun State as the All Progressives Congress begins consolidating its structures ahead of what is expected to be a keenly watched 2027 election.
Solomon Olarewaju, a Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor and a stakeholder of the CityBoy Movement in Ado-Odo Constituency II, said members of the organisation were determined to take their campaign deeper into communities across the state.
Olarewaju praised the Ogun CityBoy Movement for what he described as its expanding grassroots presence and its efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu, Adeola and other APC candidates.
He said the organisation would continue engaging young people, community leaders and voters as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.
According to him, the movement is committed to the target earlier announced by Adeola that Ogun State should deliver at least two million votes for Tinubu in the presidential election.
Two-million-vote target takes centre stage
Adeola had earlier challenged APC supporters in Ogun State to work towards delivering two million votes for Tinubu, arguing that the state’s voting strength makes such a target achievable.
The senator made the call during the inauguration of the Ogun State executives of the CityBoy Movement and the commissioning of its state secretariat in Abeokuta.
The political calculation is ambitious.
Ogun has more than three million registered voters, according to figures cited by Adeola while addressing supporters, and the APC governorship candidate believes a properly organised grassroots structure could translate a significant percentage of that electorate into votes for the President.
The Ogun CityBoy Movement has now adopted the target as a major mobilisation objective.
Olarewaju said members and stakeholders would continue taking what he described as the administration’s message and the party’s political programme to residents at the grassroots.
For the APC, however, the challenge will go beyond assembling supporters at rallies. Turning political enthusiasm into actual votes will require voter registration, PVC collection, election-day mobilisation and sustained engagement across Ogun’s diverse communities.
That is where the emerging grassroots structures could become important.
CityBoy expands grassroots network
The Ogun CityBoy Movement has been expanding its organisational footprint across the state in recent months.
Its Ogun State Director-General, Dr Abdulateef Sulaimon, disclosed during the inauguration in Abeokuta that the organisation had registered more than 150,000 active members within one month of beginning its membership campaign.
The movement is targeting more than 500,000 verifiable members before January 2027.
If achieved, that would give the group a substantial mobilisation network ahead of the elections, although membership figures do not automatically translate into votes.

The organisation’s leadership says its objective is to establish functional structures across all 20 local government areas of Ogun State.
National Director-General of the CityBoy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, has also tasked state executives with building a disciplined organisation capable of reaching voters at community, ward and local government levels.
The Ogun CityBoy Movement therefore appears to be moving beyond the conventional support-group model of rallies and endorsements towards a broader grassroots political structure.
The national organisation describes itself as a youth-driven movement supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and promoting political participation, civic engagement and grassroots mobilisation.
Movement backs Yayi for Ogun governorship
Beyond Tinubu’s re-election campaign, the Ogun chapter is also aligning itself with Adeola’s governorship campaign.
Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District, emerged as the APC candidate for the 2027 governorship election after winning the party’s primary.
Olarewaju said the movement supports what Adeola’s camp describes as the ITESIWAJU agenda, which is being presented as a programme focused on continuity, development and inclusive governance.
The Ogun CityBoy Movement stakeholder also highlighted Adeola’s engagement with young people, arguing that youth participation would remain important both during political mobilisation and in governance.
For Adeola, the endorsement adds another organised support bloc to a campaign that has been gathering momentum within the ruling party.
Governor Dapo Abiodun has already publicly backed Adeola as his preferred successor, placing the senator at the centre of the APC’s succession plan in Ogun State.
Adeola’s political experience cuts across Lagos and Ogun states. He has served in both the House of Representatives and Senate and currently represents Ogun West.
His supporters are positioning his experience in public finance, lawmaking and constituency politics as important credentials for the governorship race.
But the 2027 contest will ultimately be determined by voters, and the effectiveness of groups such as the Ogun CityBoy Movement will depend on how successfully they convert organisational structures and public endorsements into electoral support.
Tinubu’s Ogun projects enter campaign narrative
The Tinubu administration’s projects and interventions in Ogun State are also emerging as an important part of the APC’s campaign message.
Adeola has cited projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Expressway as evidence of federal attention to infrastructure.
He has also pointed to developments in the education and health sectors, including the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta and federal intervention involving Tai Solarin University of Education.
These projects are likely to feature prominently as APC campaigners attempt to persuade Ogun voters that retaining the party at both federal and state levels would sustain development.
The Ogun CityBoy Movement is expected to carry that message into communities as the election
