  • A new phase in Sowore’s political mobilisation

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has unveiled a mobile application designed to coordinate supporters, volunteers, donations and campaign activities ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

The digital platform, known as SoworeNow, is described by its promoters as the official supporter application for Sowore’s 2027 presidential campaign on the platform of the African Action Congress.

The SoworeNow campaign app brings several political mobilisation tools into one platform, including campaign news, daily briefings, rally information, volunteer opportunities, donations and a community forum for supporters.

Announcing its availability, Sowore urged supporters to download the application, register and connect with his political movement. The platform has been made available for Android and Apple devices, according to posts published through his official social-media channels.

The launch reflects the growing role of digital technology in political organisation, fundraising and voter engagement as Nigerian politicians begin positioning themselves for the 2027 election cycle.

SoworeNow app targets campaign coordination

According to its official Apple App Store description, the SoworeNow campaign app serves as a meeting point for support groups backing Sowore’s presidential ambition.

Users can access campaign statements, breaking developments and a daily briefing summarising issues considered important by the campaign.

The application also provides information about rallies and political events, allowing supporters to find gatherings and receive reminders.

Another feature enables users to volunteer their time or professional skills. This could allow the campaign to identify individuals willing to assist with organising events, media activities, grassroots mobilisation, research and other campaign assignments.

The platform also provides an option for supporters to make voluntary financial contributions through Nigerian payment processors.

Members of the African Action Congress can link their party membership identification to the application and carry a digital version of their membership card.

These functions indicate that the SoworeNow campaign app is intended to operate as more than a news platform. It is structured as a digital campaign centre through which supporters can receive information, interact, volunteer, donate and participate in political activities.

Application includes Movement AI feature

One of the most notable features of the application is a tool called “Movement AI.”

The app listing says the feature allows users to ask questions about Sowore, his campaign and the African Action Congress and receive responses in their preferred language.

The inclusion of artificial intelligence suggests that the campaign wants to provide supporters with quick access to information about its candidate, party and political positions.

However, the accuracy and neutrality of answers generated by such a campaign-controlled system will require careful scrutiny.

An artificial-intelligence assistant developed for a political campaign is likely to present information from the campaign’s perspective. Users should therefore distinguish between official campaign explanations and independently verified reporting.

The SoworeNow campaign app also contains a moderated community section where supporters can publish posts, leave comments and react to other users’ contributions.

Its promoters say reporting tools and community guidelines have been included to regulate discussions and encourage respectful participation.

Ranking system rewards participation

An updated version of the application includes a feature known as “Rank,” which gives users points and recognition for participating in campaign activities.

Supporters may earn points through daily activity, referring other users, volunteering, attending campaign events and linking their AAC membership.

The points can move users through different participation levels and may unlock forms of recognition, including an opportunity to chat with Sowore.

The official description makes clear that the points carry no monetary value. They are intended to recognise participation rather than provide financial rewards.

Apple’s version history shows that the first version of the app was released on June 6, 2026, while an update introducing the ranking feature was listed on July 5, 2026. The application was developed by Helloworld Technologies Limited and is categorised as a social-networking app.

The reward structure gives the SoworeNow campaign app an interactive quality commonly associated with social and gaming platforms. The strategy may help keep supporters active beyond traditional rallies and occasional campaign meetings.

Privacy questions deserve attention

The application’s promoters state that it contains no advertisements, does not use third-party tracking and does not sell users’ information.

However, Apple’s privacy disclosure shows that the application may handle several categories of data.

Information linked to a user’s identity may include a name, telephone number and email address. Other information that may be collected includes location, device identifiers, user-generated content, search history, browsing history and diagnostic data.

Apple notes that the privacy information was supplied by the developer and had not been independently verified by the company.

The listing also gives the SoworeNow campaign app an age rating of 18 and above. It says the platform is intended for adult supporters and includes messaging, user-generated content and unrestricted web access.

Political campaigns collecting personal information must explain clearly how such data will be stored, protected and used.

Information about a supporter’s location, contact details, political affiliation and campaign activities can be sensitive. Strong security measures will therefore be necessary to prevent unauthorised access, leaks or misuse.

Users should examine the platform’s privacy policy and understand the permissions requested before submitting personal information.

Digital campaigning gathers momentum

The launch of the SoworeNow campaign app points to a broader change in Nigeria’s political communication.

Traditional campaign methods have depended heavily on rallies, radio broadcasts, television advertisements, posters and physical party meetings.

Mobile technology now allows political organisations to communicate directly with supporters, coordinate volunteers, raise money and distribute campaign messages without relying entirely on conventional media.

For Sowore, whose political identity has long been connected with online activism and citizen mobilisation, a dedicated digital platform is consistent with his campaign style.

He founded Sahara Reporters and has used social media extensively to promote protests, public campaigns and political messages. He contested Nigeria’s presidential elections in 2019 and 2023 under the African Action Congress.

The application gives his movement a platform it can control directly, rather than depending only on social-media companies whose algorithms determine how widely campaign messages are distributed.

It also allows the campaign to build a database of supporters and identify where volunteers, donors and potential organisers are located.

App does not guarantee electoral success

While the launch is significant, technology alone cannot guarantee political support or electoral victory.

An application primarily reaches people who already own compatible smartphones, have internet access and are sufficiently interested in Sowore’s campaign to download it.

Many Nigerian voters, particularly those in areas with weak internet coverage or limited access to smartphones, may remain outside its reach.

The SoworeNow campaign app must therefore complement rather than replace physical campaigning, community engagement and direct contact with voters.

The platform’s eventual political value will depend on the number of genuine users it attracts, the level of regular engagement and the campaign’s ability to convert online participation into votes.

Downloads and social-media enthusiasm do not automatically translate into electoral support. A campaign may have a visible online following but still struggle to build polling-unit structures and mobilise voters on election day.

Sowore and the AAC will also need to present detailed policy proposals addressing insecurity, unemployment, inflation, education, healthcare, electricity and other concerns affecting Nigerians.

Need to separate campaign claims from verified facts

The application describes itself as the official supporter platform for Sowore’s 2027 presidential campaign.

That description confirms his political intention and ongoing mobilisation. It should not, however, be confused with final certification by the electoral authorities.

Nigeria’s electoral process requires political parties to conduct primaries and submit the names of their candidates in line with the timetable and regulations issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Until the relevant nomination process is completed, responsible reporting should avoid suggesting that any aspirant has already secured a place on the final presidential ballot merely because campaign activities have begun.

The most accurate description is that the SoworeNow campaign app supports Sowore’s declared 2027 presidential campaign and the political activities of his supporters within the African Action Congress.

A new phase in Sowore’s political mobilisation

The launch provides Sowore with a central digital platform through which he can communicate with supporters, promote events, recruit volunteers and seek campaign donations.

It may also help the AAC connect scattered support groups and create a more organised campaign network ahead of 2027.

The real test will be whether the platform can attract users beyond Sowore’s established political base and create meaningful engagement at community and polling-unit levels.

Transparency will also be important. The campaign should disclose how donations are accounted for, how supporter data is protected and how content produced by its artificial-intelligence feature is verified.

For now, the SoworeNow campaign app represents an ambitious attempt to combine political communication, grassroots organising, artificial intelligence, donations and social networking in one platform.

Its unveiling shows that Nigeria’s 2027 political contest is already moving into the digital arena, where campaigns will compete not only for crowds at rallies but also for attention, personal data, volunteers and influence on millions of mobile devices.
